Join us for an evening of fine food, cocktails and entertainment at the inaugural Arthritis Foundation’s Mardi Gras Ball as we transport you to the sights sounds and tastes of New Orleans. It’s time to unmask arthritis and find a cure. We welcome you to step into a colorful new world of masks, beads, live music, dancing, auction and cocktail reception.
The focus of the Mardi Gras Ball is to raise awareness about the prevalence and seriousness of arthritis, as well as raise funds to support mission driven programs. Funds raised support research to find a cure, funding for Kids’ Camps, provide public health/educational programs for those who have the disease, and continue our advocacy efforts in the community. This fun and spirited evening raises funds to support our mission to conquer arthritis and help more than 54 million Americans say “Yes!” to a better life.
FACTS ABOUT ARTHRITIS
Arthritis is the leading cause of disability in the United States. 1 in 4 Americans have been diagnosed with arthritis and nearly 300,000 children under the age of 18 are affected by juvenile arthritis. The term “arthritis” encompasses more than 100 diseases and conditions that affect joints, the surrounding tissues and other connective tissues. Arthritis can cause mild to severe pain in the joints, as well as join tenderness and swelling. Each year, arthritis results in 39 million physician visits, 3 million visits to outpatient departments and 172 million missed work days.
