About the Arthritis Foundation

Striking more than 50 million American adults (one in five) and 300,000 children, arthritis is the nation’s leading cause of disability.  The Arthritis Foundation is committed to raising awareness and reducing the unacceptable impact of this serious and painful disease, which can severely damage joints and rob people of living life to its fullest.

Our Mission

Our mission is to find a cure and end the pain of arthritis by:
  • Funding cutting-edge research.
  • Providing information and community programs that improve quality of life.
  • Educating policy leaders at all levels of government to ensure everyone has access to the care they need.
  • Supporting programs for families facing Juvenile Arthritis.

You Can Help

For every dollar donated to the Arthritis Foundation, 79 cents goes directly to fund research and interventions for people suffering with arthritis.

Your support helps:

  • Accelerate science so drugs get to market sooner.
  • Researchers aggressively pursue personalized medicine and more effective treatment plans.

  • Improve mobility and decrease pain for arthritis sufferers by making the Arthritis Foundation’s Programs for Better Living available to everyone in our region.
  • Spread the messages that being physically active, maintaining a healthy weight and preventing injuries are proven ways to avoid or reduce arthritis pain.
  • Pay for camps and other events for kids with juvenile arthritis and their families so they can connect with others going through similar experiences and, most importantly, have fun!
  • Provide education and community outreach to help people understand their risk and manage their pain.
  • Assist people 24/7 through our helpline and award-winning website www.arthritis.org.
  • Fuel advocacy efforts to ensure everyone has access to the care they need.
  • Publish Arthritis Today, the Arthritis Foundation’s  quarterly publication with the most current information and resources , sent to 4.3 million individuals.
